The Marina Rubicón, is the main focal point of the area with its 550 boat moorings and exquisite restaurants and lively waterfront bars. Sign up for a fantastic trip on a catamaran, rent a kayak to explore the coast, relax beside the marina pool, or just, browse in the boutiques, shops and art gallery along the promenade around the harbour.
Twice weekly craft market on Wednesday and Saturday 9am to 2pm at the Marina creates a lively holiday atmosphere.
The Playa Blanca area borders two of Lanzarote's national parks.
The Papagayo National Park with its world famous natural golden sandy beaches is perfect for coastal walks, snorkelling and sunbathing and is very close to the villa.
The Timanfaya National Park (Fire Mountain) is also close by with its impressive volcanoes and lava fields.
The old harbour in Plata Blanca is the port for ferries leaving on the short crossing to Fuerteventura. Three companies provide the service; Fred Olsen, Naviera Armas and Lineas Romero.
If you are here in Playa Blanca for any length of time, a day trip to Fuerteventura and the town of Corralejo is highly recommended.
The port is currently being enlarged to accommodate large medium sized cruise ships and will no doubt enhance the reputation of Playa Blanca as a place to visit.
Playa Blanca is renowned for the wide selection of beach and marine pursuits on offer. Boat and catamaran cruises, submarine safaris, dolpin cruises, jet ski tours, sailing, scuba diving, sea fishing, kayaking are all available from the marina and port..
The Playa Dorada Beach is one of best beaches in Playa Blanca and has a range of water activities from peddleos, parascending boats to banana boat and there is also a diving centre nearby. It's got a great restaurant for chilling, having a beer or two and great for families with a safe beach.
Playa Blanca has a water park called Aqualava Water Park and featurs water slides, a lazy river, a wave pool, kids' play structures, restuarant and shop.
The coastal promenade starts near Villa Saskia at the Centro Comercial El Pueblo - Las Colorades (Shopping Centre) and runs along the coast for nearly seven kilometres to the lighthouse on the south western tip of Lanzarote at Faro de Pechiguera.
The promenade passes through Old Playa Blanca and links all the seafront attractions and is perfect too for fitness enthusiasts wanting to keep in shape or for the more relaxed holidaymaker, just having a pleasant stroll and enjoying the spectacular sea and mountain views.
