The Island of Lanzarote is only one hundred kilometres off the coast of Africa and is the most easterly of the Canary Islands. Only sixty kilometres long and twenty kilometres wide, makes it the fourth largest of the Canary island.
Lanzarote has a mild dry climate with average temperatures throughout the year between 21 and 29 degrees and the normal water temperature of the Atlantic Ocean ranges between 19 and 23 degrees with an annual rainfall of just 140mm.
This makes Lanzarote a perfect destination for year-round holidaying and relaxing in the sun.
Lanzarote is made up of particularly beautiful landscapes and is the most unusual and surprising in the Canary Island archipelago. The island offers the visitor a wide variety of attractions. A real must is the Art and Cultural centres, scattered all over the island.
Mostly built by the famous Lanzarote artist, César Manrique, who was an expert in highlighting and conserving the charm of the island. The creative works he established are an amalgamation of natural beauty and intelligent architecture. His foresight and endeavours in protecting the nature of Lanzarote helped the island gain the title of Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1993.
Playa Blanca is the most recent tourist resort on Lanzarote and from its early beginnings as a fishing village is fast growing into a high-end tourist destination on the southern coast of the island.
Playa Blanca’s seafront has a seven-kilometre promenade that links the town’s key attractions - beaches, marina and ferry port, restuarants, bars and shops and provides many scenic views of the coastline and seascapes looking across to the island of Fuerteventura.
At the classy Rubicón Marina you can admire the vast collection of boats and yachts while relaxing in the many bars and restaurants.
For the more adventurous, you will have a great opportunity to sample the wide range of excursions and sea activities on offer, such as, sea fishing, diving and sailing of various types and on finally returning to land, spend time exploring the designer boutiques, sip cold cocktails, and relax in the many bars and eateries.
If you enjoy a water sport-packed beach holiday - Playa Blanca has it all, including several beautiful sandy golden beaches.
The beaches at Playa Dorada, the collection of natural beaches at Papagayo and the Marina Rubicón, are all near to Villa Saskia.
